Mercy improves patient collections with Waystar-Epic integration
Mercy is the nation’s 20th-largest non-profit healthcare system, primarily serving Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. They operate or manage 45 acute care hospitals, 11 specialty hospitals and more than 700 physician practices and outpatient facilities. Needless to say, an issue with even one aspect of the rev cycle is quickly compounded when operational scope is that vast.
Mercy turned to Waystar, whose automated solutions simplify and unify the healthcare revenue cycle for healthcare organizations across the country. Working closely with Epic, Waystar was able to integrate the new service with Epic’s Benefit Calculator, replacing the need for manual rule customization.
The integration builds on Waystar’s expertise in rules refinement and years of experience with patient estimate automation. Mercy needed a vendor with that exact experience because they use the Benefit Collector tool across numerous locations. Without that expertise, any issue in the implementation process was bound to create exponential problems at every new hospital.
